The dream of owning a spacious concert hall in Liepāja was almost a century old and came true at the end of 2015. The new concert hall “Lielais dzintars” is a regional cultural and event center, home to the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, the Liepaja Music, Art and Design High School, as well as the building manager and event producers – SIA “Lielais Dzintars”.

The area of ​​the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall covers 14’126 m², eight floors high. It has three concert halls – the Great Hall with 1000 seats, the Chamber Hall – with 200 seats and the Experimental Stage with 120 seats, which are complemented by the art space on the 1st floor of the Civita Nova building, hall of mirrors on the 6th floor, as well as cafe and restaurant “Cello”.

The outstanding Austrian architect, Prof. The architectural concept of the concert hall created by Folker Gīnke is based on the symbol of Liepāja on the coast of Latvia and the Baltic Sea – amber, as well as its function as an art and culture center. The architecture of the building is like music that has been driven, frozen in time and amber.

Its acoustics and lighting were created by world leaders in their field: Prof. Karlheinz Müller (Müller-BBM, Germany) and Bartenbach (Germany) its founder Prof. Led by Christian Bartenbach.

The special shape of the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall, the unique interior design and the excellent acoustics allow us to say that a visit to this cultural center, important for the entire Baltic Sea region, will become an unforgettable event for every guest.
